Committees & Action Groups
DDC Committees
Committees are the operating system of the Dover Democrats. They help to advance the mission and values of our organization in vital ways, including:
- Boosting our capacity to get things done more effectively and efficiently
- Bringing more diverse voices to the table
- Enabling people with different skills to work together to achieve a common goal
- Providing a training ground for future leaders of our organization
Join us!
Except for the Finance Committee, which is by appointment only, any registered Democrat in Dover can join a committee, and your participation is truly welcomed. Because we really are stronger together.

Candidate Recruitment & Campaign Committee (CCRC)
Jan Nedelka, Chair
[email protected]
The CCRC concentrates on two areas: recruiting candidates to run for office and working with them to create effective and successful campaigns.
Recruitment involves growing and maintaining a network of citizens who are interested in varying levels of activism, and helping the broader community understand the role and value of public service. Whether a registered Democrat is recruited by the committee or signs up to run for office on their own, the CRCC will contact and coordinate with all Democrats of good faith to ensure they are supported by the local party and know what resources are available to them.
Campaign support is multifaceted. It includes training and preparing candidates (whether they are first-time office seekers or incumbents) to be as effective as possible. The Dover Democrats offer canvassing training, targeted outreach strategies customized for each candidate, equitably allocated financial support, and a collection of guidelines and sample materials from past campaigns. Whether it’s help in creating well-crafted messaging in press releases or just practicing door-knocking, we help our candidates launch or run their campaigns in a focused way that optimizes their finite time and resources.
Meeting Day & Time
The CRCC meets monthly via Zoom on the third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m.

Partnerships & Government Engagement Committee
Mark Fisher, Chair
[email protected]
This committee is focused on fostering a stronger communication link with our elected officials at the local and state levels, as well as advocacy organizations that align with our core values. Each member of our committee performs outreach to a range of governmental contacts and advocacy groups to discuss ways in which we can stay informed and connected, and find ways to amplify our efforts to effect positive change for our neighbors in Dover and statewide. We are open to new ideas and ways to enhance the level of connection and value between each of our contacts and the Dover Democrats.
Programs & Events Committee
Nancy Vawter, Chair
[email protected]
This is the fun committee responsible for coordinating and implementing all of the DDC’s bi-monthly programs as well as other special events throughout the year.
Educating our citizens is an important part of this committee’s work. Our programs offer insights into the political world, current events and hot topics, both local and national. Past programs have addressed topics such as immigration, women’s reproductive rights, LGBTQ issues and clean energy, as well as several candidate informational sessions.
Our second task is to produce engaging and fun events that will bring in a larger demographic, create opportunities for discussion and, of course, a chance to raise funds to support all our local Democratic candidates. The events we currently coordinate every year are a yard sale in June, Pub Nights every month, Michelle & Barack Gala in September, Apple Harvest Day in October, election fun in November, and a holiday party in December.
Meeting Day & Time
The Programs & Events Committee meets every month on the 2nd Monday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Operations & Technology Committee
Robbie Warach, Chair
[email protected]
The OTC is responsible for managing the operational tasks of the Dover Democrats such as securing office space and managing the lease, maintaining the office schedule, and purchasing office supplies. The primary focus of the committee, however, is procuring and managing the technology assets used by the Dover Democrats, including email systems, communications tools, data management, and technology security.
Action Groups
All of these groups welcome new members. To learn more, simply contact the chair of the group you’re interested in.
Dover Democratic Committee’s Action Groups
Advocacy. Education. Action. That’s the focus of the Dover Democratic Committee’s (DDC) Action Groups—committed individuals who work together to address a single issue that’s of particular importance to Democratic voters. Each group engages in an array of initiatives to fulfill our organization’s mission in accordance with our values, and new members are always welcome. Below is an overview all DDC Action Groups that are currently active.
Voting Rights Action Group (VRAG)
Phil Hatcher, Chair
[email protected]
VRAG educates and advocates for policies and legislation that impact all aspects of voting rights at the local, state and federal levels. We also work to encourage voter registration, participation, and the effective administration of elections.
Meeting Day & Time
We meet at 7:00 p.m. on the first Wednesday of every month, via Zoom. To learn more about the group’s activities or to join, please contact Phil Hatcher.
Non-Partisan Action Groups
Once part of the DDC, these groups have evolved into larger entities to tackle big issues that transcend party affiliation and city limits. These groups are non-partisan and open to all. The DDC remains connected to these groups, however, because they continue to share our democratic values.
NH Healthcare Action Group (NH HCAG)
Dr. James Fieseher, Chair
[email protected]
Members of the NH HCAG are both medical professionals and lay people who share an interest in healthcare and healthcare systems. Our goals are to better understand the problems and complexities of healthcare in our communities, state and country, to educate and promote awareness of various healthcare issues within the community, to support community caregivers, and to support programs that lead to better health outcomes.
Meeting Day & Time
We meet via Zoom on the second Wednesday of every month from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. To learn more about this group or to join, please contact Dr. James Fieseher.
