Responses to Foster’s Questionnaire

Five years out from the onset of Covid, Dover’s schools and students have found a new rhythm. Educators have reshaped the teaching model to accommodate students at different levels of mastery. Recent reading data on younger students are promising.

This revised model aims at a real problem. We have a wide gap in student achievement. The 2025 NH reading tests results show a 30-point difference in reading proficiency between struggling and more successful students: 34% vs 64%. This gap persists in Math and Science.

I want to improve these outcomes. The research is clear: When struggling students do better, all students do. I support the ongoing use of data, teacher teams, and social learning so that all students are engaged and can realize their potential.
