Matthew Emerson never walked the curated road like a career politician, a millionaire, or the heir to a political dynasty. Raised in the shadow of cathedral ledge, in North Conway, he lived the reality of many Granite Staters. Working hard and living paycheck to paycheck but unable to get ahead.
At age 21, without any experience, Matthew thru-hiked the entire 2,190-mile Appalachian Trail. A grueling test of grit and self-reliance chronicled in his book, Cuttin’ Loose. Armed with that determination, he put himself through college while working full-time cleaning country club locker rooms, and later stepped onto the front lines as a field organizer for the NHDP.
Disillusioned by an insulated, tone deaf establishment, Matthew is doing things differently. He is completely self-funding his campaign with less than $5,000 and refusing to take a single dime from YOU, special interests, corporate PACs, or wealthy donors.
